After which, strange stuffs began happening which lead to the death of people close to both Mabel and Ivan.

INSIGHT
I am seriously not a  fan of horror movie, any of which frightens me, although with this one ..I'd say it was quite the same as the common Filipino horror (still frightens m, though) the story was not to catchy it was merely common. The twist was quite predictable for some, but it wasn't that obvious to me (I think?!) but the same thing goes, It's not that much .. they just added up the psychotic thing to have a different twist in the story.

Manila Kingpin: The Untold story of Asiong Salonga

for a movie of this genre, this was different because they risked showing it in black and white. Although it matches the theme, still for this age of cinema its quite awkward ? (if that's the right term??) that is what i could simply point out in this movie. it was different because of the way it was delivered.

LET ME IN (2010)

Now, let's be a bit more detailed for this one. :)

LET ME IN is the story of a young boy who met an odd young girl who just moved in in the house next to their's and the mysterious things that filled their friendship.

STORY TELLING (synopsis)
Owen was a boy who was always picked on at school. His parents are divorced so he lives with his religious mother. Often times he seats alone in the courtyard just outside their apartment. In school, he was always being bullied by his classmates and he does nothing to hit back. Being bullied as he was often makes him want to fight back but all he could do was practice his fighting stance in his own bedroom. One night as he was doing so, he saw a new neighbor, a little girl walking bare-footed in the snow together with an old man carrying a trunk, they transferred in the house next to Owen's. Owen was again bullied in school and so, that night he brought a knife and again practiced his stance this time in the courtyard. the bare-footed girl saw him, they had a conversation but the girl told him they couldn't be friends. However a few more meetings in the courtyard led them into getting to know each other. Abby, the young girl, saw Owen's scarred face one night and advised him to fight back, she told him that if he doesn't fight back then she would. Owen then got inspired to be strong, to be able to fight back. But as Owen's wheel was turning on him, mysterious death was reported in their town, a missing neighbor of their's was also discovered and the old man whom Abby lived with was caught in an accident then found dead. Abby was alone and all she has was Owen. Little did little Owen knew that there was more mystery to Abby that what he could hear from the other side of his bedroom wall.

This mystery, thriller movie had a really interesting lay down of the story. When you totally have no idea of its plot it would really grab your interest on figuring out the mystery within the characters. Dito sa movie na to, hindi basta basta nilatag ang storya very critical yung thought nung paghayag what is beyond the characters.

CHARACTER ANALYZATION with "BUBOG" APPLICATION

*I only analyzed characters of whom I think had significance ? :)
*what is "BUBOG"?
it is a physical, mental, and emotional wounds that never heal. This are wounds that will remain forever and as you age it becomes deeper and stronger, it becomes part of your identity as a person like a scar in the cheek or birth mark in the ear. It is a dialogue between what the environment has implanted deep within you and what you want to reveal about yourself to others. (source: Sir Rahyan Carlos)

OWEN- sya yung tipo ng batang whimp. He won't fight back in any way although meron syang guts kapag sya lang mag-isa. Very hayag yung bubog ng character nya, being a child with separated parents and being sobrang bullied in school. Pero nung nagkaroon sya ng chance, nabangasan nya si Jimmy, the boy na laging nangbubully sa kanya, nagkaroon sya ng confidence in a way plus nadiscover din nya yung bubog ni Jimmy. However, nungbinalikan na sya for what he did hindi na ulit sya nakalaban, again he held back.

JIMMY - maangas na bata. Sobrang tapang sa school, tipong walang pake whatever happens, the secret was his bubog. Turns out this young bully was also experiencing the same thing he does to Owen. He was also being bullied by his older brother which probably the reaso how he gets to be such a bully dahil he wanted someone else to feel how he does.

ABBY- the mysterious young girl, very reserved and quiet, In the movie sa latter part mo na madidiscover ang mystery and bubog nya which is being a vampire, a monstrous vampire. This was her bubog, kase
like Owen she was holding herself back but for a different reason, because she knows she could hurt others so badly. Pero despite this she was still able to love.

SOCIAL IMPLICATION

BULLYING !! which is very talamak ngayon especially sa karamihan ng mga kiddie or teenage hollywood movies. Sa tingin ko, this movie showed a deeper view of brutality sa bata dahil sa maraming bata ngayun lalo na sa U.S yung talagang nakakaexperience nung naipakita sa movie. Para sa batang manonood sa tingin ko ang magsisink in sa kanila would be the last part. It would probably sink in like "this/that is what happens when you mess up with a vampire's friend" :)
When we talk about the movie in the social aspect the bullying part is the best to be discussed cause right now ito yung talamak nga as I have said. I don't know pero sa mga mapapansin talaga in hollywood movies ganon, na hopefully hindi inaadap ng kabataang Filipino. Probably kasi isa na itong BUBOG ng society yung bullying.

KISAPMATA (1981)

A movie by Mike de Leon back in 1981. it was inspired by true story, from an article by Nick Joaquin “The house on Zapote Street”.
Mang Dado, a retired cop was Mila’s father. He was over protective of his only daughter who had decided to get married. He only agreed to the marriage if Noel, Mila’s boyfriend, agrees to pay a dowry of a huge amount. After the marriage Mang Dado insisted that the couple stay in their house, the young couple couldn’t disagree. For a couple of days staying in the Carandang residence, Noel then builds his discernment of tyranny in Mila’s household, he felt everyone’s fright of mang Dado which he later realize had grown up to him as well. Noel then rebels on his wife’s father which results to a separation he didn’t intend. Within a couple of days Mila, longing for his husband’s presence, decided to come along. The couple had their way until they learned of mang Dado’s apperance in Noel’s home gun at hand. They went back hoping to settle thing out. However just when they finally decided to move away, after getting tired of playing along with mang Dado’s never ending disturbance, they went to the Carandang house to get Mila’s things but learns from Mila’s mother that mang Dado wasn’t in good mental condition anymore. Mang Dado couldn’t take how his daughter felt, and decides to kill, first his own wife, Noel, then his own daughter, after then he shot himself in the head leaving no one standing in the room.
The award-winning film was done with so much effort. The actors were effective and persuasive in the sense that they will drive your emotions along as you watch the film. Mr. Vic Silayan who played Mang Dado will give you the creeps and will have you thinking “pano kung sya yung tatay ko?” (i didn’t come out with an answer to that) he gave promising portrayal of the role.
Upon watching the film I saw symbolisms which gave the story more a mysterious appeal. In this film action spoke louder than words seeing or feeling mang Dado’s behavior didn’t need much of the wordings you could simply feel the fright just by watching how everyone behaved.
For a person who haven’t watched so much of the classic Filipino films this is a film which would probably have them interested.
